Am I a Bitch?
Ok, I HATE hate HATE being "forced" to give money to some charity/do community service (I have to have 100 hours to friggen graduate from high school!)/etc. It's not like I dont care about the people in need, it's just I hate being forced to help people. I should help people because I want to, not because I have to have 100 service hours to graduate from high school and go to college and start a life of my own.
And sometimes, I feel most community service is a chore. Sure, it's nice to build a home for some poor family, but it doesn't mean I wanna give up my Saturday to do manual labor.
Don't get me wrong, I like some community service (stuff that involves arts, crafts and kids, for instance--though I normally hate kids other times. Well, I hate stuck up little priviliged kids
)
My views on this are such a paradox....gawd. On one hand, I hate being forced to help people (i.e. "I'm a heartless bitch") but I also hate not doing community service type stuff.
Whatevsss.

I know how you feel.
Find some type of charity that makes you happy, and something else to let you know when you apply to a college check out their requirements to graduate. Many colleges, like mine require so many community outreach hours to graduate. Liberal arts colleges, and Women's Institutions tend to be very very big on serving the community.
P.S.you're not a Bitch just cause you have a different idea of service that suits your personality.

Thanks...my mom just has
Thanks...my mom just has some wierd idea that because I'm her child I should just LOVE to help people and do community service, but that's just not the case, for the most part.
Don't feel bad...
My Step-dad and I are Rotarians so I help out the community, but if my Step-dad didn't guilttrip me all the time about it, I probably wouldn't do it. Not that I'm a bad person, I'm just lazy.
